I find Wizard101 to be an amazing game. At first, you don't want to tell your friends that you play it, because it is such a family friendly game that is pretty safe for the younger gamers in the family to play. But it is so good and entertaining that you end up telling people about anyways and even try to get them to play.
I like role-playing games. I've played the table-top Dungeons and Dragons and enjoying acting and speaking as I felt the character I was portraying would have. I played World of Warcraft for a bt on a PVPRP server (player vs player, role playing). So here I've decided to try out a style of play on Wizard101, and record it on paper to see how it goes.
I call it, Wizard-mode.
So the rules.
1) Death is not permanent. However, if I am defeated in battle I must destroy any equipment I have on me. I choose this because it is a multiplayer game, and fleeing battles while with someone who is not playing the death is permanent role would be annoying for them. Plus permanent death in a MMO is scary.
2) No sidewalk use. In Wizard101, one can avoid monsters by using the sidewalk. To up the challenge, I'm going to avoid it
3) No extra quest pickup. This will be tricky, so what it really means is doing my best not to pick up extra quests. If I do happen to pick up an extra quest, I have to do what is selected. No quest switching.
4) No waypoint finder. I must find my own way
5) No help from my other character. Wizard101 has a shared bank. I can't use it for this character.
6) Equipment switching only at home. I can only switch equipment while in the dorm room or other house my character has.
7) No teleporting or marking. In the game you can mark your location, teleport out to heal and teleport back to where you left off. Defeats the whole purpose of planning ahead I think.
8) No mini-games to gain potions. Money only.
Well, here I go!
